Doug Makishima is currently leading an IP communications interoperability initiative for the GSMA and is also the CEO of VieQi, Inc. He is a seasoned executive with deep experience in the wireless communications / mobile device, networking and storage industries. Before founding VieQi, he was COO at D2 Technologies, a leading IP communications software company advancing mobile IMS communications capabilities based on VoLTE (IR.92), ViLTE (IR.94), VoIP over WiFi (VoWiFi), and RCS / Unified Communications.
Doug has held senior management positions at leading companies such as Nortel Networks, Bay Networks, AMD, and Adaptec, and several startups. During his engineering career, developed patented storage IC technology (patent# 5,659,690). He has actively participated on several IEEE, ANSI and GSMA committees focused on wireless, networking, communications and storage standards. He holds a BSEE from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from Santa Clara University.
