This session will discuss the opportunities, challenges and business case for "green" cables, by providing views from owners, suppliers and operators.

Building on the results of recent studies conducted by the JTF, this session will discuss scientific and societal benefits, as well as engineering developments and sensor specifications for green cables.

This session will address data management, ownership, and storage issues. It will also provide some legal insights in support of the development of green cables.

​15:30 - 16:30 Session 5: Funding and business plan
Taking into consideration the need to identify potential sources of funding to support investment in a green cable pilot project which would carry the sensors alongside commercial telecommunications applications, the session will discuss costs and revenues in order to come up with a business plan.

​09:00 - 10:30 Session 7: Wet demonstrator project
This session will discuss the scope, design, funding and implementation of a wet test to demonstrate the feasibility of installing sensors external to the repeater and to provide data from such sensors for evaluation, as first validation of the capabilities of a “green” submarine cable system.
