Episode #2: Benefits of Digital ID to enable governments and private sector response to the pandemic - Part 1

As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, businesses are increasingly reliant on technology to verify identity remotely and to quickly onboard people to digital financial services. Using digital financial services and digital id solutions, governments can also effectively distribute social aid to the population during the crisis.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has also called on countries to explore using digital identity solutions, as appropriate, to aid financial transactions while managing money laundering and related risks during this crisis.

This webinar featured key experts discussing how digital ID solutions could be used for remote onboarding of customers and  also explored emerging technologies in the field.

Participation was open to ITU Member States, Sector Members, Associates and Academic Institutions and to any individual from a country that is a member of ITU who wished to contribute to the work. This included individuals who are also members of international, regional and national organizations.
