High-Level & Forum Tracks

The Event was built upon two tracks, the High-Level Track, consisting of formal statements, handing over of prizes, and endorsement of the Outcome Documents, and the Forum Track. Building upon the tradition of annual WSIS Forum May meetings, the Forum track’s format and thematic focus were the result of an open consultation process with the involvement of all WSIS Stakeholders.

The High-Level Track was held on 10th and 11th June 2014 and will provided a special platform for high-ranking officials of WSIS Stakeholders, Government, Private Sector, Civil Society and International Organization to express their views on the achievements, challenges and recommendations on the implementation of WSIS Action Lines, emerging trends and matters of strategic importance to the development of the telecommunication and information and communication technology sector. In addition four High-Level Dialogues were held on 12th June 2014.

The Forum Track offered participants a series of high-level panels, a ministerial round table, action line facilitation meetings, country workshops, thematic workshops and knowledge exchanges, as well as an exhibition. The Forum track will addressed issues that are critical to WSIS implementation and follow-up in multi-stakeholder settings. It will included discussions on implementation of WSIS related activities beyond 2015.

The 10 Year Anniversary of the Partnership on Measuring ICTs and the 10 Year Anniversary of the WSIS Stocktaking Process will be celebrated during the Event.

As the Chairman of the United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS), ITU will organized the UNGIS High-Level Meeting and UNGIS Working Level Meeting at the Event.
