Iran National Committee for WSIS and Information Technology Organization of Iran

In this country workshop, firstly we will provide participants with a brief summary of the activities carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the WSIS goals and action lines. Panellists from the government, the private sector, and academia will update the past reported projects, such as Iran National Information Network (NIN); they will also present new mega-projects, such as the Rural Broadband Access Plan. In this regard, panellists will discuss main achievements, as well as challenges faced.

In the second part of the workshop, core results of the Iran national ICT measurement survey, which was designed and ordered by the Information Technology Organization (ITO), as the body in charge for planning and monitoring the information Technology in Iran to Statistical Center of Iran (SCI), will be presented. Panellists will highlight the outcomes of the survey which are related to WSIS goal and action lines.  

These presentations help participants in gaining a general view about ICTs in general, and WSIS in particular, in Iran.
