Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences / University of Cambridge
Session 197
This session will focus on Digital initiatives and the SDGs in South Asia and a concrete way forward for the gamut of stakeholders – techpreneurs, social businesses, government, UN agencies, international financial institutions, national and global private sector players.
It examines the potential for leveraging technology trends (Promise)– including the new world of work fashioned by AI/Machine Learning, to forge new partnerships and social businesses. It assesses the current state of play (Performance) and highlights opportunities, challenges and risks (Prospects). It is expected that the sharing of global experiences and best practices would trigger further innovation and policy reform that enables countries in South Asia to translate the promise of “digital dividend” into a reality, especially for the rapidly increasing youth cohort.
