Session 293

09:00–10:45, Thursday, 11 April 2019 Room M, ITU Montbrillant Thematic Workshop

Take a visual journey into the Year 2030 with our futurist, Margaret Regan, to see how the workplace and workforce will change over the next 10 years? What are the 2030 Game Changers that futurists agree with impact all of us, at work, at home and in our communities and how do these impact the UN Sustainable Development Goals?

How have leaders in the past shown tunnel vision when they refused to see the future and failed because the over-invest in what they are good at today and under-invest in what they should be good at tomorrow.

What will careers look like with Artificial Intelligence, Freetainers, Anybots, ESIs and the Evaporating Office? How will we handle Talent Management and DEI as GenerationY and Z become the majority and define both work and DEI differently? See examples of how some organizations are catching the wave today with innovative programs that apply Artificial Intelligence to hiring processes and focus on a multidimensional integrated change process.

Focus on SDG 4 to see how technology will help ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Do this by taking a trip into immersive virtual reality to see what learning will look like in the future.

Explore SDG  Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls  by experiencing a gender equity exercise in a virtual world and following a three-year effort of an organization that made bridging the gender gap a critical part of its organizational strategy.

See how two organizations are working on Goal 16: Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies  by engaging 150 people globally in  the DEI Futures Project to determine actions crucial for a more diverse, equitable and inclusive world.

This interactive multimedia presentation, including a trip into virtual reality, will focus on current challenges and opportunities and what you need to do to see the future so you can embrace the future in a VUCA world.

The session will start with an audience participation interactive quiz on future trends and then introduce the VUCA world of Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity. WE will dive deeper into Ubertech and the pervasive presence of technology in our work.

From there we will explore the WorkScape of 2030: where and how we will work; who will be at work and the impact of Generation Y and Z on the three SDGs we are exploring.

Examples of organizations who are addressing Goals 4,5, and 16 will be shared, along with some of the best practices we have researched.

We will end with how we need to respond to the VUCA world with Vision, Understanding, Clarity and Agility.
