Assistive technology is life-changing for people in need. Access to assistive technology is a fundamental human right and the need is increasing fast as populations age globally and the prevalence of noncommunicable diseases rise. This session will look at the emerging assistive technologies that bring convenience to persons with disabilities and special needs.

Mr José Rubinger Filho
Mr José Rubinger Filho Co-Founder & CCO Key2enable

Mission-driven serial entrepreneur graduated in Electronics and Business administration, creating sustainable businesses that benefit social, education, and health sectors for the past 20 years. Result-oriented as the CCO of Key2Enable Assistive Technology, is responsible for opening the market in the Middle East and Europe and responsible for building strategic relationships with both internal and external stakeholders with a track record of business development and strategic partnerships activation between the public and private sectors.


Idan Meir
Mr Idan Meir Co-founder and CEO RightHear

Idan Meir is the Co-founder and CEO of RightHear, an innovative startup that turns public spaces into accessible environments for people with spatial orientation challenges, including people who are blind or visually impaired. Previously to RightHear, Idan founded Hubanana is one of Israel's leading tech hubs for startups and entrepreneurs. Idan holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Business from The Open University of Israel.


Ms Cathy Holloway
Ms Cathy Holloway Academic Director Global Disability Innovation Hub

Cathy Holloway is a Professor of Interaction Design & Innovation at UCL's Interaction Centre and a co-founder and the academic Director of Global Disability Innovation Hub. Cathy leads the WHO's Collaborating Centre on Assistive Technology. Cathy's research interests lie in developing new assistive technology and working with partners and programmes to measure the benefit of inclusive policy and practice


Mr Hudson I. Asiema
Mr Hudson I. Asiema Founder and CEO Deaf eLimu Plus(DEP)

Hudson I. Asiema is the Deaf Founder and CEO of Deaf eLimu Plus(DEP), an innovative startup that provides educational products and tutorial services in sign languages for Deaf and Hearing people. With his programming expertise and being self-taught for 12 years, he develops some web apps, mobile apps and bots using Facebook Messenger using new assistive technologies and tools

In 2012, he received his first local Tandaa grant that led him to develop his first project Kenyan Sign Language Online Dictionary. He made one of his web applications to semi-finalist Google Cloud Developer Challenge 2013. In addition, his Sign Language Dictionary Bot was made the finalist of Bots for Messenger Challenge 2017. He made his startup company(DEP) one of winners from I.AM 1.0 for innovating Sexual and Reproductive Health solutions for Deaf people in Kenya.

He is a member of Facebook Developer Circle Nairobi. He is a board member of World Deaf Tech and the Founder of African Deaf Tech.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from California State University, Northridge in the USA.

 


Mr Muhammad Waqas
Mr Muhammad Waqas CEO and Co-founder WonderTree

Waqas is the CEO and Co-founder of WonderTree. A company that makes augmented reality games for the therapy and education of special needs children. Through technology Waqas and his team are making development of children with special needs affordable, accessible and effective. He is also a marketer, pubic speaker. Waqas is passionate about social Entreprenurship and  believe that it can make a difference in the world.


Mr Bryce Johnson
Mr Bryce Johnson Inclusive Lead Microsoft Devices

Bryce Johnson has been designing accessible experiences and technology for over 15 years. As a member of Team Xbox he was part of the core team that started the inclusive design and accessibility practice. Bryce worked across Microsoft teams to launch the assistive technologies on the Xbox One, including Copilot. Bryce initiated and designed the first Inclusive Tech Lab at Microsoft, which has now hosted over seven thousand visitors; it is a facility where people can explore how people with disabilities interact with Microsoft games, services, and devices. Bryce is one of the inventors of the Xbox Adaptive Controller ever since he was a lead on its project at the 2016 Microsoft One Week Hackathon. Bryce is now a Sr User Researcher for Microsoft Devices where he is devoted to ensuring Microsoft products are accessible.
