Information Technology and Innovation Foundation

Session 147

Friday, 31 May 2024 09:00–09:45 (UTC+02:00) Physical (on-site) participation only Innovate Space, ITU Montbrillant Building Digital Governance Processes: WSIS, GDC/ Summit of the Future Interactive Session 1 Document

A narrative has taken hold in both advanced and emerging economies that puts the blame for a range of societal ills -- from intensifying  inequality, to job losses, to consumer harm -- on advanced technology and the people and companies that bring it to market.  And yet it is technological innovation that delivers the growth, productivity and scale needed to achieve the WSIS vision of a "development-oriented Information Society."  ITIF will host a panel discussion to unpack critiical ingredients for fulfilling that vision.  Drawing from a diverse set of experiences -- from impact investing, to public service in technology and global public policymaking, to business perspective from the leading edge of digital transformation -- the panel will seek to generate concrete recommendations for WSIS beyond 2025.
