Space is playing an increasingly important role in providing resources, data, and opportunities to advance sustainability and development back on Earth. The session will look at the latest intersection of emerging tech, blossoming space economy and sustainability issues ahead of COP meeting later in the year.

Mr. Jim Keravala
Mr. Jim Keravala CEO OffWorld, Inc

Jim Keravala is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of OffWorld, Inc. He has undertaken leadership roles in innovation in multidisciplinary areas such as aerospace engineering, space systems, robotics and machine intelligence. OffWorld is the culmination of over a decade of architectural planning and development of autonomous robotic systems operating in extreme space environments for mining, construction, undersea, assembly and transportation services. We have currently deployed our autonomous mining robots and directed energy preconditioning robots in pilot programs in live underground mines and are expanding our species of robots for mining and space programs. Participated in satellite design, integration engineering and program management as part of this process. Jim cofounded Shackleton Energy and developed architectures for mining in space using propellant depots and reusable transport systems utilizing lunar polar water for an assured continuous supply of fuel in space. He also cofounded the OffWorld Consortium building a space based solar power station fleet. Resulting from a collaboration with NASA Ames, Jim co-founded a synthetic biology program to enable over-expression of enzymes in bioleaching scenarios for terrestrial and space mining. Jim studied aerospace engineering, spacecraft engineering and physics at University of London, Surrey University, Aachen Technical University and International Space University, was previously faculty at Singularity University and is on advisory boards and Board of Directors of a number of space institutes including Board Member of the National Space Society, The International Moonbase Alliance and the Moon Village Association. Jim is an Academician of the International Academy of Astronautics, Fellow of the British Interplanetary Society and Member of the International Institute of Space Law. He is a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration.


Mr. Nikolai Khlystov
Mr. Nikolai Khlystov Space Technology, C4IR World Economic Forum

Nikolai Khlystov is the Aerospace Industry Lead at the World Economic Forum, the international organization for public-private collaboration with the mission of improving the state of the world. He also manages the Global Future Council on Space Technologies, which brings together global multi-stakeholder experts in the space sector. As part of the role, Nikolai drives the community to address sector related issues which affect the industry at a global level and at the same time have a direct link to societal progress. Nikolai is also a member of the Socio-Economic Panel that supports the Hague International Space Resources Governance Working Group. He was previously responsible for managing the relationships with strategic Mobility partners of the Forum. Nikolai is a graduate of the Global Leadership Fellows Master programme at the Forum; he also holds a Master degree in international business management from University of Geneva and a Bachelor degree in commerce from Carleton University in Ottawa.
 


Mr. Murat Seitnepesov

Since 2017, Murat Seitnepesov is the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Caspian Week Forum. The Caspian Week (www.caspianweek.com) is a meeting point of visionaries, market leaders and experts with the focus on the Greater Caspian Region as a vital element of the future global society and economy. Since 2008, Murat Seitnepesov is the Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of the Integral Group of Companies. The Integral Group’s main business areas are Commodities Trading & Logistics, with start-ups and ongoing projects in the field of Digital Technologies (AI, DM&ML, IOT, Blockchain) and Optimization and their applications in Trading & Logistics, Healthcare and Retail businesses. Earlier in his career, Murat engaged in scientific studies as a Research Fellow in the Institute of Nuclear Physics and  pursued a career in banking as the Leading Specialist in the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and then Head of International Operations Division in the State Agricultural Bank of Turkmenistan. After that, he fully immersed himself in the areas of trading and logistics - as Managing Director of Militzer & Muench Turkmenistan Ltd and Chairman of the Board of Emex Turkmenistan Ltd. With ten years of hands-on and comprehensive experience in trading and logistics, Murat founded Integral Petroleum SA, company dedicated for development of the Caspian Region.
