- Ladies and gentlemen,
We are coming to the end of three wonderful days of WTIS-17.
WTIS continues to be a unique platform for ICT data users and producers to meet and share knowledge and best practices, identify business opportunities and enhance cooperation.
Over these three days, we reinforced the importance of good data and statistics on current and emerging technologies and their role in creating investment and economic opportunities.
The meeting highlighted that collaboration across sectors and the adoption of relevant metrics that measure different areas impacting everyday life were crucial.
We have also had interesting discussions about the Measuring the Information Society report and the ICT Development Index in particular.
I would like to reiterate that the IDI is an important index as it allows countries to carry out self-assessment and track their progress on a year by year basis. In order to compliment the IDI we have for the first time, published a second volume of the report focusing on country profiles in order to adequately reflect the efforts made by each country.
The IDI 2017 has demonstrated that every country has made progress towards the creation of the information society and highlighted the need for increased investment in the ICT sector, for international cooperation, and continued exchange of information and strategies among Member States.
I am very happy that the ambitious and realistic strategic plan Tunisia Digital 2020 has started bearing fruit, under your leadership Minister Maarouf, as demonstrated by the progress of Tunisia in the IDI 2017.
Distingués participants, Mesdames et Messieurs,
Nous avons l'opportunité de jouer un rôle noble dans l'histoire du secteur des TIC. Saisissons cette opportunité pur bâtir une très jolie œuvre, une œuvre utile à la communauté humaine.
Hier une peinture de Leonard da Vinci intitulé « Salvator Mundi : sauver le monde » a été vendu 450 millions de dollars.
Je souhaiterais que nous ayons ce genre d'œuvre à l'esprit lorsque nous travaillons à mette en place des statistiques fiables et un Index de Développement des TIC qui continue de refléter la réalité, quelle qu'elle soit.
Je suis heureux et très fier de voir la passion positive avec laquelle nous discutons pendant les WTIS, chacun et chacune avec l'intention d'améliorer et de perfectionner l'œuvre. Je remercie donc tous les participants ici présents et ceux qui pour des raisons indépendants de leur volonté n'ont pas pu faire le déplacement à Hammamet.
Je remercie particulièrement les présidents sortant des Groupes d'Expert. Alexandre Fernandes Barboza et Inigo Herguera et leurs vice-présidents qui ont posé des fondations solides de notre œuvre. Je souhaite la bienvenue aux présidents entrant à Candido Astrologo et Joâo Noronha ainsi que leurs vice-présidents.
Je remercie tous les modérateurs et tous les participants pour la qualité constructive des débats.
Au nom de tous les participants je voudrais remercier notre président mon très cher frère Habib Dababi pour son leadership et son engagement.
Au nom de tous les participants je voudrais exprimer notre profonde gratitude au gouvernement et au peuple tunisien qui nous a comblé de son hospitalité, de sa gentillesse, de sa disponibilité et de son engagement.
Monsieur le Ministre et très cher frère, c'est en ces termes aussi que je décris votre équipe et vous-même. Merci de nous avoir accueilli à Hammamet
Je remercie aussi tous ceux qui ont travaillé derrière la scène pour le bon déroulement de nos travaux et notre séjour très agréable.
