Session 1: High-level roundtable - The future of television for South Asia, Arab and Africa regions

This high-level roundtable focused on the policy enablers for the successful and impactful future television services. Emerging trends, government policies, industry challenges and opportunities were discussed with government institutions from South Asia, Africa, and Arab regions.

Session 2: The enabling role of regulators

This session presented regional case studies and regulatory approaches for successful and impactful television services highlighting the importance of analog to digital conversions, new applications, and spectrum management. The aim of the session was to discuss the supporting role played by regulatory frameworks and how the impact of digital TV services could support future growth through regulatory models and the amendments to the licenses of digital TV broadcasters mindful of privacy, piracy, and copyright considerations.

Session 3: The future of television delivery 

This session analyzed content delivery from different viewpoints (broadband, cable, and terrestrial/satellite broadcasting). It will explore the potential innovative broadcasting applications, e.g., 5G/6G broadcast, OTT, convergence issues.

​Session 4: The future television experience

AI and extended reality technologies are fast becoming essential tools for the broadcasting industry, enabling new services that when combined with immersive sensory media using audio-visual and haptic content, offer new audience experiences and personalized services. At the same time, the integration of broadcasting, broadband and web platforms is pushing broadcasters and content creators to offer more than just “simple” programme to the audience. This session also presented current and future trends in collaborative content creation technologies for television over the various media, including cloud-based and IP-based production that increases production flexibility.
