This session is dedicated to the regional launch of the 2020 Guidelines for the Protection of Children Online (COP). The guideline, aimed at improving online child protection and providing resources and practical tools to support children and their families in the development of digital skills and digital literacy. 
The guidelines are targeted to government, industry, and civil society to support the development of national and corporate policies and strategies, for educators, parents and children. The session will include the launching of COP in two of the 6 official languages of the UN, English and Chinese. 
The session will bring representatives from the government, industry as well as ITU to discuss the importance of children's’ safety online.

Outlines of topic:
  • Creating awareness of the for the new revised guidelines on Child online protection (COP).
  • Highlighting the available tools and resources for the Child Online Protection initiative by ITU.
  • Discussing ways of getting other stakeholders involved in protecting children and young people online.
  • Adapting the COP guidelines for Children and Educators in a more friendly and acceptable form.  
  • Promoting a multi-stakeholder approach in COP implementation (Define a global behaviour in a local context).   ​
