| Session 3: ITU work on security and cyber resilience for DFS According to the World Bank, a mature DFS environment can assist low-income citizens and support national economic growth by lowering living costs and increasing security and transparency in widespread financial transactions. As the uptake of digital payments in emerging markets is expected to increase over the foreseeable future, national DFS ecosystems will be required to guarantee, given the growing reliance on Internet, mobile networks and electronic payment applications, a higher level of cyber resilience of their DFS infrastructures. In turn, regulators need to be able to assess the cyber resilience of the critical infrastructure supporting digital finance and fintech. This session explored the guidance available from the ITU on security and cyber resilience for digital financial services.
