​​Session 1: Sustainable Broadband Communications

Due to an increasing political awareness of the importance of ICT for development, not least due to the explosive expansion of the mobile phone networks, rural areas are getting more attention also regarding broadband infrastructure. This session will examine the main challenges faced by telcos to bring broadband to rural areas and discuss what is meant by the concept of sustainable broadband communications. The example of India will be examined.
