* On 20 July 2023 ETRI submitted the generic patent declaration for Recommendation ITU-T Y.3816 “Quantum key distribution networks - Functional architecture enhancement of machine learning based quality of service assurance". It was duly registered in the ITU-T Patents declaration database https://www.itu.int/ipr.

Three new work items were agreed for establishment:

Y.IMT2020-NCE-fra "Future networks including IMT-2020 - Framework for network complexity evaluation", TD418/WP1 (Q20/13)
Y.ICN-Det "Information-centric networking in networks beyond IMT-2020: Requirements and functional framework enhancement to support deterministic communication services", TD447-R1/WP1 (Q22/13)
Y.ICN-ML "Information-centric networking in networks beyond IMT-2020: Requirements and functional framework enhancement to support machine learning", TD448-R1/WP1 (Q22/13)

Two proposals for the new work items from Q6/13 were taken out from the agenda of the WP1/13 meeting as those were developed at the interim Q6/13 meeting that had no authorization to work on elaboration of new proposals for study. Consideration of these two new work items for establishment in Q6/13 work programme was, therefore, deferred to the opening Plenary of the Working Party 1/13 during SG13 meeting of 23 October – 3 November.

Courtesy of the WP1/13 management team, a draft WP1/13 meeting report has been elaborated as found in TD471/WP1. It will serve basis for the official meeting report development.

Working Party 2/13 “Cloud Computing & Data Handling" meeting, 26 July 2023, Geneva

Planned at the SG13 meeting in March 2023 draft new Recommendations from Q7/13 (2) and from Q17/13 (1) underwent the thorough review at the preceding rapporteur group meeting of these Questions and the decision on each of these Recommendations was to defer proposal for consent to the SG13 meeting in October 2023.

At the preceding rapporteur group meeting (3 - 13 July, virtual meeting) Q17/13 progressed the Big data and data handling standardization roadmap (Supplement 40) work, TD224/WP2.

The meeting agreed initiation of the two new work items:

- Y.cmi-arch "Cloud computing - Functional architecture of container management in inter-cloud", TD219/WP2 (Q18/13)
- Y.smmc-reqts "Cloud computing - Functional requirements of service mesh management in multi-cloud", TD212-R1/WP2 (Q19/13)

One proposal for the start of the new work in Q17/13 was not agreed for establishment and the decision was deferred to the next meeting of SG13, October 2023.

Quantum key distribution networks – overview of resilience

At the preceding rapporteur group meeting (17- 21 July, Geneva) Q16/13 progressed Standardization roadmap on trustworthy networking and services (Supplement) work, TD314/WP3.

Q5/13 developed two questionnaires for agreement and dissemination:

- Questionnaire on Use of Satellite Communications by Developing Countries, TD280/WP3;
- Questionnaire for Y.DSNETDN: Data Standardization for New and Emerging Technologies in Developing Nations, TD281/WP3.

Those were agreed by the WP3/13 meeting without changes.

In addition, a new questionnaire in support of the work on draft new Recommendation Y.expBDtech-frame was agreed to be launched in Q5/13, C478-R1 “Questionnaire for ITU-T Y.expBDtech-frame: "Requirements and Framework for the exploitation of Big Data/Artificial Intelligence technologies in developing countries".

The draft Recommendation Y.MBIMT2020-Gen "General Requirements for Migrating Existing Network Technologies (2G, 3G, 4G) to IMT 2020 and beyond" from Q5/13 was agreed to be further developed in a form of a Supplement. The Q5/13 work item Y.TDP-Gen "Deployment of Data Platforms for Intelligent Transport System in Developing Countries" was agreed to be moved to the living list as it hadn't received contributions since a while.

In total, seven work items  were added to the WP3/13 work programme at this WP3/13 meeting. Those came from Q2/13 (Y.WALNC) and Q16/13 (six Amendments to Y.3800-series of Recommendations):

  • Y.WALNC “Functional requirements for the controller of wide area lossless network in NGNe", TD294/WP3 (Q2/13)
  • Amendment to ITU-T Y.3802 “Quantum key distribution networks - Functional architecture", TD316/WP3 (Q16/13)
  • Amendment to ITU-T Y.3803 “Quantum key distribution networks – Key management", TD317/WP3 (Q16/13)
  • Amendment to ITU-T Y.3804 “Quantum key distribution networks – Control and management", TD318/WP3 (Q16/13)
  • Amendment to ITU-T Y.3805 “Quantum key distribution networks – Software-defined networking control", TD319/WP3 (Q16/13)
  • Amendment to ITU-T Y.3811 “Quantum key distribution networks – Functional architecture for quality of service assurance", TD320/WP3 (Q16/13)
  • Amendment to ITU-T Y.3814 “Quantum key distribution networks – Functional requirements and architecture for machine learning enablement", TD321/WP3 (Q16/13)

One proposal for the new work item for Q1/13 and one – for the Q16/13 were not agreed for the start and the discussions will continue at the next SG13 meeting (October 2023).

The AAP Last Call starts on 1 September 2023 for each of the 11 consented Recommendations listed above.

Next meeting of SG13 will take place in Geneva from 23 October to 3 November 2023.
