Final Program

ITU/BDT Regional Seminar on Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) for CIS, CEE and Baltic Countries

Moscow (Russian Federation)
26-29 November 2007

Due to its ability to cover wide geographic areas efficiently, wireless technology not only has the potential to become the third broadband pipe into homes in the well served areas, but is beginning to provide one of the most efficient solution for innovative and high-speed broadband services to consumers in remote and underserved areas. The Seminar will examine the technological, economic and regulatory factors that influence the availability and deployment of wireless broadband services. The event will provide an opportunity for wireless broadband business, technology and regulatory experts to share their knowledge, experiences and views on the future of the industry with ITU and Hosting Administration attendees.

The seminar program includes sessions on the following topics: introduction to wireless broadband; broadband programs and system implementation; broadband solutions for rural and remote areas; wireless broadband standards and technology; regulatory aspects of wireless broadband; BWA planning and implementation; fixed-mobile convergence; transition/evolution from 2G to 3G.
